01 • A Message From the Founder

“Twenty years ago I built a website for photographers who wanted to do more with their images. What I did not expect was to build a community that would still be here, still learning, still creating, still evolving, two decades later.”

PhotographyBB started as a simple idea: that the techniques used by professional photo editors did not need to stay locked behind closed studio doors. I believed then, and I believe now, that access to craft knowledge changes what people are capable of creating. The community that formed around that idea proved me right.

What we have built over 20 years is not just a product library. It is a trusted relationship with tens of thousands of photographers and digital artists who return because they know the content here is created with genuine care for their growth. That trust is the most valuable asset we have, and it is the foundation everything else is built on.

The landscape we operate in has shifted dramatically. The tools have changed. The platforms have changed. The economics of creative education have changed. This prospectus is an honest accounting of where PhotographyBB stands, what the next chapter looks like, and why this is the right moment to support it.

02 • Who We Are

Twenty years of trust
in a community of creators.

PhotographyBB is a digital education platform for photographers and Photoshop artists, operating as a BC sole proprietorship since 2004. We sell Photoshop effects, actions, templates, eBooks, and courses through a WooCommerce store, serving a community of buyers who return for the quality and clarity of the content.

Our audience includes passionate photographers, retouchers, digital artists, and creative professionals who value thoughtful instruction and high-quality creative tools. They are serious practitioners, portrait photographers, retouchers, digital artists, and creative professionals who want to understand what they are doing and do it better. This relationship is built on two decades of consistently showing up and delivering work that earns their confidence.

The Core Advantage

An email list of real buyers is the most defensible asset in digital business. PhotographyBB’s customer list was built one genuine purchase at a time over 20 years. It cannot be replicated by a newcomer with capital. It is not an algorithmic audience that disappears when a platform changes its rules. It is a direct relationship, and that relationship is what your support helps protect and grow.

03 • The Challenge We Are Facing

Three forces reshaping
creative education.

Independent creative education platforms are navigating one of the most disruptive periods in their history. The forces at work are not temporary. They represent a structural shift in how knowledge is distributed, how creators are compensated, and what audiences expect.

📉

The Disappearance of Arts Funding

Government and institutional support for independent creative platforms has contracted steadily. Grants and training incentives exist but are competitive, complex to access, and insufficient alone. Platforms that relied on institutional support are being forced to rebuild on community foundations.

Big Tech Consolidating Creative Space

Adobe, Canva, and major platform ecosystems are absorbing the middle tier of creative education through bundled AI tools, aggressive pricing, and platform lock-in. Independent educators are being squeezed between free AI tools and expensive enterprise suites.

🎯

The Opportunity for Those Who Move

Artists who understand both traditional craft and AI-assisted workflow are the most valuable people in the creative economy right now. PhotographyBB is uniquely positioned to serve this audience with 20 years of craft credibility and active AI infrastructure development.

A Real-World Example

We are already seeing the effects of this shift across the creative industries. Just recently, Disney announced layoffs affecting roughly 1,000 employees across its studios, television, and technology divisions as part of a broader restructuring tied to the future of digital production and evolving technology workflows.

These are not inexperienced creatives entering the industry for the first time. These are highly skilled professionals, many with decades of experience in their craft. This is not a reflection of talent. It is a reflection of how quickly the landscape is changing.

Artificial intelligence and rapidly evolving creative technologies are already reshaping how work is produced, how teams are structured, and what skills are valued. The question is no longer whether this transition is happening. It is how artists, especially independent artists and emerging creatives, adapt in a way that allows them to continue building meaningful and sustainable creative careers.

That gap between traditional creative training and the realities of the industry today is exactly what PhotographyBB is working to help bridge.

The platforms that will thrive in the next decade are not the ones that ignore AI, nor the ones that replace human craft with it entirely. They are the platforms that help artists understand what they are doing and use every available tool to do it better. That is exactly what PhotographyBB was built to do.

Artists are not lacking tools. They are lacking trusted guidance.

05 • Our Approach to AI

Craft-first. Tool-aware.
Never replacing the artist.

PhotographyBB has been in the business of teaching craft for 20 years. Our position on AI is shaped by that history. We are not skeptics, and we are not maximalists. We are practitioners who use every tool available to produce better work, and we teach our community to do the same.

The AI tools we use operationally, including Claude for content review and writing, ChatGPT for script drafting, and GPT-Image for visual content generation, are deployed in service of human creative judgment. They accelerate production. They do not replace the decisions that define quality.

01

Craft Knowledge Comes First

AI-assisted production is meaningless without craft understanding. Our content teaches the underlying technique. Tools are always secondary to the knowledge.

02

Human Judgment at Every Gate

Every AI-generated output in our pipeline passes through a human review step before it reaches an audience. Automation handles volume. Humans handle quality.

03

Transparency With Our Community

We are open with our audience about which tools we use and how. That transparency is part of why they trust us, and it is a competitive advantage, not a liability.

04

AI as Infrastructure, Not Identity

The PhotographyBB brand is built on expertise, longevity, and community. AI is part of how we operate efficiently, not what we are. That distinction matters to our audience.

The Strategic Position

We sit in a gap that is widening. Adobe and Canva are pushing AI tools that make it easier to produce output. We are pushing education that makes it easier to think like a professional. An artist who understands the creative process, colour theory, and light does not get replaced by an AI image generator. They use it better than anyone else. That is the audience we serve.

Join the community keeping independent creative education alive

06 • A Final Word

“Arts and artists have never been well funded. That is not new. What is new is the speed at which the landscape is shifting, and how much it matters which voices survive it.”

PhotographyBB has been here for over twenty years because the people in this community have made it possible. This initiative is an invitation to be part of the next chapter, one where we build something that genuinely serves photographers and digital artists not just today, but for the decade ahead.

The community is real. The track record is real. The opportunity is real. What support does is remove the ceiling on what we can build for the people who have trusted us to show up for them.

Thank you for considering this. Whatever you decide, we are grateful you are here.
