From the fragile beauty of a fleeting moment, to the destructive capabilities of man and nature, Chris’s camera is a vessel of self expression. Though this journey began as a personal one, Chris has had the honor of sharing his images with a worldwide community. Recent credits include the Associated Press, USA Today, National Geographic Online, The New Yorker, and Wall Street Journal. He recently appeared on national TV programs such as Inside Edition, and sailed to distant countries in the Mediterranean.
While Chris is truly proud of these accomplishments, perhaps his greatest joy comes from teaching others how to control their camera and fulfill their creative vision. As a licensed photography teacher, he provides personalized instruction to students of all experience levels. In 2013, Smithsonian Journeys recognized these efforts by naming Chris a Study Leader.
Chris is the kind of devoted artist who will sit in a small wooden blind for several hours waiting for a bird to appear, and wake up long before sunrise to capture a mountain range bathed in morning light. Yet, as majestic as these scenes are, Chris finds even greater satisfaction in creating a unique photograph of something that would have otherwise gone by unnoticed. It’s this elusive pursuit that inspires Chris to press the shutter and study life, one frame at a time.
