Stanley Cup Photoshoot

imgp5517As a kid who grew up playing street hockey, pretending I was either Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffee, or sometimes even Grant Fuhr, you can imagine my excitement when I heard that the Stanley Cup was coming to Vancouver (of all places)!

The Canadian Holy Grail was brought here as part of a grand (re)opening celebration of a McDonald’s restaurant, where former NHL’ers and events were happening all day long. In the evening, the Stanley Cup was on display for everyone to see, and even have your photo taken with it.

Naturally, I had my photo taken with the cup (the official photographer of the day will be emailing it to me), and was able to grab a few snaps of the cup along with the guy with the coolest job in the world, Mike Bolt – Keeper of the Cup.

  1. Oh! My! Gawd! You lucky dog. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was in ’91 when the ‘Hawks were swept in the finals by Pittsburgh. I wept like a baby. You’re right, this guy has the best job in the world. My left arm for that job! Did you touch it?
