How to export images to a DVD in Lightroom?
I'm having some serious problems trying to figure out how to export my updated images to burn to a DVD. I'm using a mac and seems like all the "guides" I see are for PC which don't help a lot. Too many of the books I've looked at only give convoluted ways to work and not a simple answer. I've tried several different times and keep getting the negatives along with two other files which asks for which application to use and the other to restart LR2 when I attempt to open them. I've been fighting with this for over a week now. Starting to think my other method was better.

 Re: Help!!!!!!!
Tom - I don't use Lightroom or a Mac. (I know, you're thinking 'then why are you responding'? ) Anyway, do you have to use lightroom to transfer them? On a PC if I want to copy files to a DVD I can just drag the files from the folder they are in and drop them on the DVD burners icon. They are held in a temporary folder until I hit the 'burn to DVD' button. Also, Elements 7.0 has a "Make a CD/DVD" under the File menu in the Organizer. Again, I know Elements isn't Lightroom, but they are both Adobe. Does lightroom have an organizer of sorts where that command might be? Sorry I can't be of more help. Greg

 Re: Help!!!!!!!
Thanks Nobby. The only problem is he talks fast and I listen slow. Just need to do some experimenting now.

 Re: Help!!!!!!!
Hi Tom,
Great question! Here's what I do with mine...
I always export them to a folder on my harddrive (which you can organize into any folder/subfolder structure that you like). When exporting them, it's a really good idea to export them as DNG files (if working with RAW images). The reason is, it's a widely used Adobe standard format for RAW files, which offers lossless compression so you aren't losing any pixel data, AND most importantly, all of your RAW edits along with the original image, metadata, etc.. are preserved in the one DNG file. If you export them as any other RAW format (like Canon's CR2 for example) you will also generate an additional file called an XMP Sidecar file which contains all the data on the changes you made to the image, along with the metadata. With DNG, all of those things are embedded into the DNG itself.
At the bottom of the export dialog box, you have the option to burn the images to a disk after the export. This is up to you. Persoanlly, I like to export my images to a folder on my computer, then "Do Nothing" in the export dialog box. I'll then choose my own subfolders to burn to a DVD at a later point, which gives you more flexibility if you are going to be sending them to family/friends, or if you are doing this as a backup method.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and where you are running into troubles (if any). I'm happy to help where I can.
Best,

 Re: Help!!!!!!!
Thanks Dave. This helps a lot. I've considered creating the file on the hard drive then moving the file to burn to a DVD. It's somewhat frustrating trying to learn a new system, but I really like what I can do with LR2 so far. I'm sure there are many other things I'll have questions about and I should probably get a good book for reference. Sometimes the books get too far in-depth and tell you all you can do at each step instead of telling you steps 1 then 2 then 3 to get to the end.
