The Photographer’s New Best Friend – The iPod

3 April 2009 One Comment

I recently made a post on Twitter about the photographer’s new best friend being the Apple iPod. As photographers, most of us lead busy lives both in and outside of photography. Additionally, with all of the new camera technologies, accessories, and software (not to mention learning post processing techniques) learning more and staying up to date can be a daunting task all on its own.

Enter your new best friend – the iPod. Did you know that there are loads of excellent video and audio photography, Photoshop, and Lightroom podcasts available (free) for download? The video podcasts are great instead of watching TV, and the audio podcasts can be listened to in the car, at work, or when you’re out getting excercise!

I’ve been asked by several members if I could recommend some good photography podcasts, so here is a brief list of my favourite photography podcasts:

Video Podcasts:

PhotoshopUserTVSubscribe in iTunes

Photoshop for Digial PhotographersSubscribe in iTunes

Lightroom for Digital PhotographersSubscribe in iTunes

Audio Podcasts:

Learning Digital PhotographySubscribe in iTunes

TWIP (This Week in Photography)Subscribe in iTunes

TPN: The Digital Photography ShowSubscribe in iTunes

LightSource Studio Photography Podcast - Subscribe in iTunes

There are loads of great podcasts and way too many to go through or be able to keep up with, so again, these are my personal favourites. Enjoy and Happy Photographing!

I use the iPhone. Same results. I don’t use the Audio ones except for Top Floor, but all three of your Videos Podcasts I subscribe to, as well as Photoshop Killer Tips, Adobe Photoshop Quick Tips, and Digital Photography Tips from the Top Floor. I have the 16 GB phone, and since I carry it everywhere I go, I always have access to podcasts. I also snap a picture with the built-in camera (really terrible), but I get a geo-tag for later when I edit the photos from my camera, which doesn’t have a GPS. There are several free applications in the iTune Store that automate this process.
